Parking Service Hours for Older Scouts

Posted on Jun 12 2018 - 6:51pm

Hello Troop 380 Parents,

Our Troop 380 has the opportunity to raise funds by  coordinating parking on the Wednesday’s of Summer Camp from 4:00-6:00pm beginning on June 27th.  The dates are June 27th, July 4th, July 11th and July 18th.  For each day, we need one Adult and 5 Scouts to volunteer to work for 2 hours coordinating parking at Camp Manatoc.   I worked this for the first time last year and it was fairly easy and enjoyable directing the parents as they come to visit their scouts during summer camp.  I will be the Adult volunteer on July 4th and 18th, but I cannot be there on June 27th or July 11th.  Can anyone volunteer to be there on June 27th and/or July 11th?  Also, please encourage your Scouts to volunteer to work a couple of these days since we need at least 5 Scouts for each of those 4 days.

Backpacking and Camping Equipment

Posted on Jun 11 2018 - 7:34pm

It's always a great time to properly equip scouts for camping and hiking! Below are a couple of links to popular sites. For some, if you sign up with your email, they will occasionally send discount codes. Check 'em out!  If you have questions on equipment, you can ask some of the adult leaders. As a rule, cheaper is not better, but last year's higher-end model that has been marked down is a great option. For backpacking, the smaller and lighter, the better. Be sure to check temperature ratings on sleeping bags. The Files link on the menu usually has equipment lists.
