Troop Re-charter Action!

The time for troop membership re-charter is upon us. Starting Nov 1st, please use a Re-Charter Event to "sign up" for next year. There is Boy's Life' mag option, and a non-Boys' Life option (lower fees). Fees can be paid via PayPal in the event. Scouts are $83 ($81 cash or check) with Boys' Life magazine subscription,  $72 ($70 cash or check) without Boys' Life subscription, and registered adults are $36 ($35 cash or check). Please register by December 16. Apologies for any earlier priceing info that did not take into account recent BSA changes.

Scouts must be registered. We encourage adults to be registered as well as this fosters adult participation which is sorely needed for a successful, boy-led troop. If you have not been a previously registered adult, an application form is required prior to re-chartering. You can stop by the scout room during any meeting and there will likley be someone there who can give you one/take your completed form. Registration does require a formality such as Youth Protection Training and a few other recommended online course to assist in leadership

Please consider volunteering your time and talent. An adult talent survey is forthcoming.

Scout Holiday Gift Ideas

Posted on Nov 25 2019 - 6:27pm

Some parents have asked about camping equipment, particularly around high adventure. Equipment makes a pretty good holiday gift for your scouts. I’ve attached a Philmont gear list and description. It does a pretty good job of explaining what you might look for when making selections. In general, the lighter and smaller it is, the better it is for backpacking (though more expensive). I’ve invested in gear over the years with my older boys and I still use it for myself and current scout. Also, if it says “Coleman” on it, it likely is heavy and won’t last long on the trail but may be suitable for “car camping.”

Philmont 2021 - Committment Request

Posted on Oct 28 2019 - 9:19pm

Planning for Philmont 2021 has begun!

We have to submit our expected crew counts for our Philmont 2021 adventure. We are asking folks to express their committment by December 2nd. A lottery conducted by the Philmont Scout Reservation will  determine if Troop 380 will get a slot for our preferred July 2021 trek. If selected, the Philmont requires a $100 per person deposit to hold spots for our crew(s). This registration will determine how many crew we ask for in the lottery. Click form more details. Use the event registration link to the right.

Troop 380 Popcorn Strategy

Posted on Sep 16 2019 - 7:49pm

Troop 380 is making changes to our popcorn campaign approach for 2019, and it is important that scouts and parents are aware and clear of what our objectives are, and how we are going to achieve them.  In the summer of 2021, the Troop will be again venturing to Philmont.  Troop leadership has made it clear that the monetary burden for this trip is primarily on the scout, not the parents.  Selling popcorn provides a significant means for saving up for Philmont.

Photo Release / Contact Info Form

Posted on Oct 8 2018 - 8:07pm

This past March when membership dues were paid, everyone should have filled out the Annual Photo Release and Activity Permission form.  However, this was overlooked.  Please fill this out as soon as possible and return to the Scoutmaster.  Some were handed out at the meeting last week and the form is attached to this announcement. You can also find it under the "Files" link  on the left menu.  Going forward, we will require these annually when the dues are paid in March.
