About Us

About Us:

Boy Scout Troop 380 has been in existance for over 70 years and still once of the strong units in the district. Troop 380 is a Scout-led Troop that offers unique experiences in leadership development and high adventure.  Through a robust, active program centered on camping and hiking opportunities, the boys learn skills, have fun and build friendships that last a lifetime. Our Troop's success is built on the strengths of:

  • Relationships
  • Outdoor/Scout Skills
  • Leadership Development
  • Summer Adventures
  • Adult and Alumni Oversight
The main goal (and challenge) of all the adult leaders of Troop 380 is to utilize the methods of Scouting to provide an environment where the Boy Scouts can lead, learn and have fun while embracing the core values of Scouting: citizenship, character and fitness. We are glad that you are interested in a Scouting journey with our Troop and welcome your questions and involvement!

Come discover why Troop 380 is truly "Second to None..."

We typically meet every Monday night from 7-8:30pm at the Montrose Zion United Methodist Church, located at 565 N. Cleveland-Massillon Road, Fairlawn, OH.  During the school year we have monthly campouts that are usually scheduled on the third weekend of every month.  Our Summer Adventure program can't be beat - June - Summer Camp at Camp Manatoc. July - High Adventure Trek. See attachment for our current year campout plan.

Troop 380 has been in operation since being chartered at Montrose Zion United Methodist Church on Feb 1 1949. Seven Scoutmasters have presided over the Troop - Bill Miller served the longest tenure of over 30 years. Bill started the tradition of having a strong Scout-led unit with an annual summer high adventure trek offered to the older scouts. Past Scoutmasters since Bill include Dave Chandler, Tim Lombardi and Jim Arbogast. Pat Cherico is our current Scoutmaster. We are especially proud of the fact that over 195 Eagle Scout awards have been earned by boys in our Troop.

Troop 380 is recognized as one of the best-organized troops in the Old Portage District, particularly due to its high rate of advancement and achievement, its many trained leaders, and its especially vibrant outdoor and camping program, including an annual summer high adventure trip. The youth of Troop 380 consistently are among the top Troops in the Old Portage District in advancement and merit badges earned.
